Creating a Trunk Port Group and adding the Abiquo EE VM to the Trunk Port Group

Note: This step is only required if Abiquo EE is installed in a hypervisor.  It is not required in a bare metal install.

1. After login in to the VMware Infrastructure Client (VIC) select the server where the Abiquo EE virtual machine is being hosted and the click the Configuration tab.

2. Under Hardware select Networking.

3. click Add Networking... in the upper-right of the VIC.

4. Click the Next button at the default (Connection Type: Virtual Machine.)

5. Select the same virtual switch that's being utilized by the Management Network.

6. Change the Network Label to a descriptive name and change the VLAN ID to 4095 and click Next.

7. The final screen will be a summary of the changes.  Click Finish to continue.

8. After adding the new network Trunk Port Group will show up.  Ensure the VLAN ID is set to All.

Now the Trunk Port Group needs to be added to the Abiquo EE virtual machine.  

1. Right-click on the Abiquo EE virtual machine and select Edit Settings. The dialog window below will display.

2. click the Add button and select Ethernet Adapter and click Next.

3. For Type leave the default of E1000.  For Network Label change it to the Trunk Port Group network label and click Next to continue.

4. At the summary screen click Finish.

5. Back at the virtual machine properties window click OK.

6. The VIC will show that the Abiquo virtual machine is now in two distinct port groups (VM Network and the Trunk Port Group network) under a common virtual switch (vSwitch0.)
