The Storage tab provides functionallity to manage the external storage infrastructure. Abiquo uses iSCSI to access the different storage technologies supported in the platform. The default view of this tab, shows all volumes available to the selected datacenter.
Adding Storage Manager to the remote services
The Abiquo platform uses the Storage Manager remote service as a front-end to the different storage technologies, to encapsulate their APIs and provide a standard way to access all of them. This remote service is not added by default when creating a new Datacenter, and it must be added before managing the external storage infrastructure.
To add the Remote Service, just go to the Datacenter edition, and in the Remote Services tab, click the
button and add the Storage Manager remote Service.
Pool Management
Once the Storage Manager remote service has been created, the following step is to create a Storage Pool. A Storage Pool configures the access to the target storage technology and allows to configure the Management and the Service networks that the Cloud Nodes will use to access external storage.
| Storage pool limitation Currently, only one storage technology by datacenter is supported, so only one pool can be created. |
The Storage Pool management can be done using the buttons:
| Button | Action |
|---|---|
|
Create a new Storage Pool |
|
Remove an existing Storage Pool |
|
Edit the selected Storage Pool |
To create the pool, the following popup appears:
|
|
|
| NetApp case In NetApp case, management IP and storage IP are not equals. Management IP points to the NetApp storage connector (port 8280), and storage IP points to the NetApp storage server (port 3260). |
The volume list
This list allows System Administrator to know all the volumes that are created on the pool with detailed information such as the IQN that will be used to identify the volume in the target storage technology, the volume size, etc.
