Installation

Installing VMware ESX/ESXi nodes is a very straightforward process. You can find information about how to set up a simple VMware ESXi node here.

VLAN Config.

You need to add a new vSwitch attached to the service network interface:

• Configuration -> Networking -> Add networking...

• Connection type: VKernel
• Network acces: Create virtual switch (with the service network NIC)
• Connection settings: (default, change nothing)
• IP Settings: Obtain Ip setting automatically

To finish, edit the max number of ports at the vSwitch. Change it from 56 to 4088:

• Configuration -> Networking -> vSwitch Properties
• Select vSwitch -> Edit -> Number of Ports: 4088

Configuring Abiquo storage

First you have to log into the VMware vSphere Client as 'root'. If you are trying to configure a VMware ESXi server and you don't have the 'root' password, contact your System Administrator and inform her of what you need to do.

Once you have logged in successfully, you have to configure a new Storage for Abiquo. Go to 'Configutation' tab:

In 'Hardware' menu select 'Storage':

In 'Datastores' view select 'Add Storage...'

A Wizard will popup. In 'Storage Type', check 'Network File System' and click on next.

In 'Properties' fill the 'Server' text box with the IP address (or host name if your ESXi can resolve names) of the Abiquo server. In 'Folder', enter exactly this path: '/opt/vm_repository'.

In 'Datastore Name' enter in the text box exactly this name 'nfsrepository'. Click on next when completed.

Click on 'Finish' and you are done.

Now you can see in the 'Datastores' view newly created 'nfsrepository' connected to the Abiquo Server.
