Important improvements have been made to ESXi storage in Abiquo 3.1. These improvements affect iSCSI volumes on VMware hypervisors only.

VM snapshot validation

This improvement affects iSCSI volumes i.e. volumes with an IQN, including persistent VMs but NOT hard disks or primary disks of non-persistent VMs. The improvement was made because of a VMware issue: Extending a RDM with snapshots can result in corrupted data (1005351). See VMware docs http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1005351

When you want to detach or resize a volume, Abiquo will check if the VM contains VMware snapshots. If there are snapshots, Abiquo will not allow you to detach or resize the volume, because VMware documentation says that this can corrupt the data on the disk.

Disk resize update hypervisor

This improvement affects iSCSI volumes i.e. volumes with an IQN, including persistent VMs but NOT hard disks or primary disks of non-persistent VMs.

This improvement will ensure that the size is updated correctly in the hypervisor after a volume resize.

HBA rescan frequency

This improvement affects iSCSI volumes i.e. volumes with an IQN, including persistent VMs but NOT hard disks or primary disks of non-persistent VMs. This improvement is a performance improvement to the process used to find new volume information from storage devices. An HBA Rescan is only performed once per VM instead of once per disk.
