Instances of multi-disk templates
To create an instance of the virtual machine, first power off the virtual machine.
Then click the Create instance button above the virtual appliance canvas.
The Create instance dialog will open.
Select the virtual machine to create the instance from.
Click the Edit link to rename the instance template. Enter the new name and then click Accept to continue.
Click Select disks to choose the instance disks. Select the checkbox next to a disk to include it in the instance. A new instance template will be created with the disks you have selected. Remember that there must always be at least one disk, and the disk at position 0 in the disk sequence should be a book disk if the template is to be deployed to the hypervisor.
You can edit an instance in the same way as you can edit a regular virtual machine template and make changes to the disks and template definition. See Modify multi-disk VM templates
To promote an instance, go to the Apps library and click on the template that the instance belongs to.
Move the mouse over the instance icon and from the options menu, select promote instance.
In the Promote to master template dialog, enter a name for the new master instance. Select the disks to promote from the list of disks.
Remember that there must always be at least one disk, and the disk at position 0 in the disk sequence should be a boot disk for the template to be deployed to the hypervisor.
