In Abiquo 3.6, the Abiquo metrics and monitoring feature supports metric dimensions. To give an example, this means that if you have a metric that measures disk writes and you have more than one disk, then you can choose to display values for a single disk. When no dimensions are selected, by default the average value for each metric is displayed.

Display metric dimensions

To obtain metric dimensions, open the metric configuration screen and click Get dimensions. Abiquo will open a pull-down list with the dimensions and you can select a specific dimension.

Custom metric dimensions in the API

Custom metrics can also have dimensions. In the API, when users push metrics, they send the DTO called application/vnd.abiquo.datapoints. This DTO has the set of Datapoints to create and the corresponding dimensions. For example:

{
   "collection":[
      {
         "timestamp":1416824852000,
         "longValue":10
      },
      {
         "timestamp":1416825018000,
         "longValue":11
      }
   ],
   "dimensions":{
      "device":"hda"
   }
}
