Improvements to Branding System

The improved branding system works directly with cascading style sheets. Customers can copy and modify the sample style sheets, which will enable much greater control over branding. The style sheets are organized to cover the unsecured zone (login theme) and the secured zone (console enterprise theme).

Some other aspects of whitelabelling have also been made easier to work with, for example, the main menu icons are now loaded from individual 30x30 pixel icon files, rather than one composite icon file.

Small Window UI Improvements

Abiquo 3.6 has better support for small window sizes. The minimum recommended window size for working with Abiquo is 1024 x 768.

As an example of the changes, in small windows, the user’s name and enterprise are moved to a pull-down menu under the User icon in the top right-hand corner of the main screen. This new arrangement ensures that all icons will fit in the main menu bar of a very small window. The following screen captures show the User menu in a large window and small window respectively.

Usability Improvements

Some small usabilty improvements have been made to the Abiquo user interface in Abiquo 3.6.

Simplified virtual datacenter creation

When users create a virtual datacenter, and the datacenter only has one virtualization technology, the virtualization technology selector is not shown on the creation dialog.

Default Virtual Appliance

When a new virtual datacenter is created a default virtual appliance is created in the virtual datacenter. The name of the default virtual appliance is vapp_[VIRTUAL DATACENTER NAME]

You can configure the prefix with the "virtualdatacenter.create.vapp.defaultname" element in the UI language files. See Abiquo UI Client Language Configuration

Changes to Enterprise Management

Abiquo 3.6 includes improvements to the usability of enterprise management.

Enterprises Sorted Alphabetically

The enterprise list is now sorted in alphabetical order.

Abiquo Selects the Enterprise You Created

When you create a new enterprise, Abiquo filters the enterprise list by the new enterprise and selects it. If you remove the filter by clicking on the x in the filter box beside the name:

  • if the enterprise is on the first page in alphabetical order, it will remain selected
  • if the enterprise is on another page, it will not be selected and Abiquo will display the first page.

Edit Public Cloud Credentials for Tenant Administrator

In Abiquo 3.6, a tenant administrator can edit their enterprise’s public cloud credentials. When authorized, the Edit credentials option appears in the username menu.

The credentials are added with a new streamlined process in which credentials are automatically validated when the user clicks Add account.

This improved dialog has also been incorporated into the Enterprise dialog.

OAuth in the User Interface

The Abiquo OAuth implementation has been extended to allow the user to assign privileges from their own user role to the applications that they use in Abiquo. 

You can now manage OAuth applications through the user interface.
