User dashboard

This dashboard or home view is the first screen you will see when you log in to Abiquo. It has Metrics, Hybrid, and Optimization tabs.

Metrics

On the Home view dashboard, the Metrics tab provides an overview of the resources an enterprise is using on the platform.

To jump straight to a resource, click on the resource name in a table. To display more details of an event, click on the event in the table.

For the administrator, by default the platform displays the metrics for the current enterprise. To display metrics for another enterprise, select the enterprise or switch to it.

For the user, the Metrics tab displays the metrics for the enterprise's virtual datacenters without the Enterprises list or the enterprise statistics.

Enterprise resources and virtual datacenter resources

This panel shows statistics of the resources used by an enterprise in all accessible datacenters, or the selected virtual datacenter. The display depends on user privileges, see Configure dashboard display

  • To view usage and limits for a single virtual datacenter, select Virtual datacenters from the drop-down list and then select one from the second drop-down list.
  • To view usage for an enterprise, select or switch to the enterprise, and select Enterprise from the drop-down list.

StatisticsDescription
Virtual CPUs

Virtual CPUs used by VMs that are currently deployed

Storage

VM disks that are created on the hypervisor datastore. This includes non-persistent VM system disks and hard disks.
These disks will be deleted when the VM is undeployed. Gigabytes of disks created on datastores.

MemoryGigabytes of RAM used by VMs that are currently deployed
Ext. StorageVolumes of storage created on integrated/managed iSCSI or NFS, or generic iSCSI storage devices.
This includes volumes of persistent external storage and persistent VM system disks. Gigabytes of volumes created in VDCs.
VLANsPrivate VLANs defined in Abiquo. A default private VLAN is always created when you create a virtual datacenter. Number of VLANS created in VDCs
Public IPsNumber of IP addresses purchased or reserved in public VLANs
RepositoryNFS Repository space used by the enterprise in the Apps library including templates and instances but not conversions (GB). Available for enterprises only, not individual virtual datacenters
Virtual machinesNumber of VMs deployed by the enterprise

Screenshot: For the selected enterprise the chart displays resource usage with soft and hard limits.

 Key:

  • Green = used
  • Orange = soft limit
  • Yellow = soft limit exceeded
  • Red = hard limit

Virtual appliances

This is a list of details of all the virtual appliances in the platform, including:
  • Virtual appliance name

Workload of VMs by location

This panel shows a graph of the enterprise's VMs deployed in public cloud providers or private cloud. The virtual machines are counted by location (public cloud region or datacenter). To display a more detailed list with a count of VMs in each location, hover over the graph

Billing details

On the hybrid tab, there is an optional Billing details section.
Privilege: View bills

If billing information is available, the platform can display the billing details for public cloud providers such as AWS and Azure on the Hybrid

  2. Click the building Switch enterprises button beside the tenant name

  • The name of the enterprise that you are currently using will be displayed in the top right-hand corner of the screen
  • All your actions with virtual datacenters, virtual appliances, VMs and VM templates will apply to the current enterprise until you switch to another enterprise
  • When you log out and log in again, the platform will not reset the enterprise, unless your environment uses an external system for user management, in which case the platform will reset the enterprise at login
  • When you are viewing the dashboard for another enterprise, to jump straight to a VDC, VApp or VM, double-click on it, and the platform will automatically switch your user to the owner enterprise and go to the entity
