In the appliance library, virtual machine templates can be classified into logical groups called categories. In Abiquo there are two types of categories: local categories and global categories.
The image below shows the local category "Enterprise Firewall" selected from a list that also includes several global categories.
You can manage categories using the buttons next to the Category pull-down list. You can createor delete a category.
You can only create or delete categories in the GUI; you cannot modify categories. If you have the "Administer all enterprises" privilege, you can use the API to change a category from local to global if there is no global category with the same name. You cannot move a local category from one enterprise to another or change a category from global to local.
To manage local categories, you must have the Manage VM template categories privilege. By default, the Cloud Admin and Enterprise Admin have this privilege.
To create a local category:
When you delete a local category, all the templates belonging to this category will be changed to the global category ''Others''.
To delete a local category:
To manage global categories, you must have the Manage VM template global categories privilege. By default, the Cloud Admin has this privilege.
To create a global category:
If you download a VM template from a remote template repository and it belongs to a global category that does not exist yet in Abiquo, the platform will create the new global category with this name.
When you delete a global category, all the templates belonging to this category will be changed to the category ''Others''. Others is the default global category and it cannot be deleted.
To delete a system category:
To add a VM template to a category, move the mouse over the template and click the edit button.
